The Wisconsin Small Business Development Center at UW-Green Bay will present workshops in December and January as part of its ongoing Supervisory Leadership Certificate Program series.

The December workshop, titled “Resolving Organizational Conflict,” will be presented from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 and Wednesday, Dec. 10 at the Advance Business and Manufacturing Center in Green Bay. Instructor Cheryl Stinski, a mediator, trainer, coach and author, will help participants improve conflict management skills, teach others how conflict can be positive, overcome fear of conflict, increase morale and more. Attendees will learn about active listening, communication style, identifying root causes of conflict and more.

A brand-new workshop, titled “Effective Communication,” will kick off the Supervisory Leadership Certificate offerings for 2015. The two-day workshop will be offered from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13 and Wednesday, Jan. 14, also at the Advance Business and Manufacturing Center in Green Bay. “Effective Communication” will focus on improving day-to-day communication and in turn increasing productivity, improving employee satisfaction and bolstering overall effectiveness of work teams. Participants will gain greater awareness of their own communication style, enhance their ability to listen, determine how nonverbal communication affects effectiveness, discover how perception is as important as reality, and much more.

The instructor for the “Effective Communication” workshop is Terra L. Fletcher, owner and founder of Fletcher Consulting, who has nearly a decade of experience in business development and marketing consultancy. Her business/community growth and communication strategies have benefited more than 70 nonprofits, public and private businesses, chambers of commerce and higher education institutions.

Designed for managers who are looking to build leadership skills and advance their businesses, the Supervisory Leadership Certificate Program and its component courses provide practical and interactive content that attendees can immediately integrate into their workplace leadership. The flexible program is designed for individuals who are just starting out on their leadership path, as well as more seasoned leaders who wish to improve upon specific skills.

Participants who wish to earn a Supervisory Leadership Certificate will be required to attend the two Core programs, Supervisory Leadership I and Supervisory Leadership II, as well as their choice of several elective programs within three years. However, individuals may take courses whether or not they intend to pursue the certificate. A complete list of courses and a downloadable brochure are available online.

All Supervisory Leadership programs are held at the Advance Business and Manufacturing Center, 2701 Larsen Road, Green Bay. All two-day elective courses are $425 per person and all one-day courses are $200, with group discounts available. Workshops meet from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on the scheduled dates. Visit the SBDC website to register or call (920) 496-2117 to register or obtain additional information.
