History

In 1977, Lynn Webster from Oshkosh and Maxine Vanevenhoven from Appleton founded the National Association of Women in Management. They met and began talking on an airplane trip to a business conference. They discussed the need for a group that would support women who were in business management positions. There were mostly men in management positions at that time and very few women. As a result, men had their support network in place and women did not. Lynn and Maxine wanted a group where they could talk about their workplace issues, problem solve, share experiences, and grow professionally. Several women came together to form a group unique from any other.

In 2018, the Executive Board of WIMI voted to change the name and branding of the organization to Professional Women’s Connection to more accurately reflect the changing industries and desires of the chapters. PWC came to be on July 1, 2018, with a new image, mission, and goals, and with the same monthly programming opportunities for its membership.
