N.E.W. Women’s Business Summit Recap

March 15, 2019

Friday, March 8, 2019, Terra L. Fletcher attended the 2nd annual N.E.W. Women’s Business Summit. It was even better than the first! From the moment you entered the conference center you could feel the energy and excitement. This was a crowd willing and ready to develop personally and professionally. Enjoy a few highlights from the day.

Vicki Updike speaks at NEW Summit

Vicki Updike started with a stirring keynote, Unique Mistakes Women Make at Work and How to Fix Them. One favorite soundbite was an answer to a common mistake, not asking questions for fear of sounding stupid. Vicki said, “Asking questions is more a sign of confidence than ignorance.”

Next, Terra presented 3 Steps to Speaking Professionally in Any Setting. She highlighted tips for content, design, and delivery when speaking publicly or in meetings. Participants left knowing they might still have butterflies when they have to speak, but now they know how to tame them.

One attendee wrote this on Fletcher Consulting’s Facebook page, “Outstanding speaker, she lights a fire and passion to engage and motivate the audience.” At the end of the presentation, Terra had attendees write their takeaways on butterflies to remind them to speak positively and think positively of themselves.

EmpowHer Hour Panel at NEW Summit

The EmpowHer Hour Panel featured four fantastic females. Diane Roundy asked, “Are you around the people who can make you better?” Dr O’Connor recognized, “I need to take care of myself to take care of others.” Terra also walked away with a long list of books to read based on their suggestions!

Dr. Ashley Anne presented the complicated sounding, The Neurobiology of Emotion: Harnessing the Wisdom of Feelings in Business. She made it fun and easy to understand with her use of props and visuals. She had streamers! Terra volunteered to help with the visual and got all tangled up in the streamers!

Registered Dietician, Alicia Brown presented Positive Nutrition: How Mindset and Habits Practiced Take you from Diet to Lifestyle. The reminders were welcomed by an audience of busy professional women who like to use the excuse that they don’t have time to eat right.

Terra’s already been requested for the 3rd N.E.W. Women’s Business Summit! Save the date for Friday, March 2, 2020!
